A New Way to DineOut

We’re all familiar with Dine Out Vancouver, the annual restaurant event that promotes special fixed-price menus for a limited time only. Dine Out is an excellent opportunity to try a place you’ve always been curious about while simultaneously supporting a local business. Usually, Dine Out is an event reserved for the colder, slower winter months, but things are a little different this year.

COVID-19 had had a significant impact on the global economy, but the hospitality industry has been hit particularly hard. Dine-in options have been available in Vancouver for the past few months, but restaurants are still struggling, especially without our usual crowd of hungry tourists. Thankfully, Tourism Vancouver has brought Dine Out back for a special summer appearance: from now through next week, Dine OutSide allows you to try some of Vancouver’s top restaurants safely. Enjoy some of the city’s newest patios or grab-and-go with DineOutSide’s picnic packs!

As dedicated fans of Vancouver’s justifiably famous food scene and big believers in supporting our Distinctly West Coast lifestyle, we’ve rounded up our top five picks for Dine OutSide Vancouver.

Brix & Mortar

1138 Homer St, Vancouver, BC

The restaurant with one of Yaletown’s most iconic patios is participating in Dine OutSide—if you haven’t been to this glass-covered beauty before, now’s your chance! Brix & Mortar’s fixed menu is $45 and full of West Coast classics, like sockeye salmon and tuna tataki.

Nightingale

1017 West Hastings, Vancouver, BC

Nightingale is an airy and beautiful space, staffed by servers who really know their stuff and shareable plates so good you might not want to share. For DineOut Side, they’re offering a special deal—lunch for two at $50 or lunch for four at $90. Both meals include their signature fried chicken, so really, you can’t miss out.

Chancho

560 Davie St, Vancouver, BC

Chancho Tortilleria is worth going out of your way for. Their super authentic Mexican food features tortillas that are made fresh every day. For $15, you can enjoy tacos for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but if you feel like bringing Chancho’s delicious food home, there’s another option. Grab one of their picnic packs for $80, and you’ll have everything you need for a backyard taco party. Yes, even the margaritas.

España

1118 Denman St, Vancouver, BC

España is one of the West End’s best-kept secrets: if you’re looking for locally sourced and seasonal Spanish-style tapas, you really can’t do much better than here. Try their delicious daily paella and a bottle of wine for only $70—you can dine in or take it to-go in one of their beach deals. No matter what you choose, España’s bound to become one of your favourite spots.

Sprezzatura

265 Kingsway, Vancouver, BC

Sprezzatura’s authentic Neapolitan-style pizza and roasts are casual perfection, whether you’re dining in on their new patio or grabbing a meal to go. If you’d rather cook at home, they’ve also got a $50 take-home BBQ pack that includes marinated chicken and herb-roasted potatoes, ready to be tossed on the grill.
